Im curious to what kind of premium a SRS hit would add to a rifle. Any thoughts?

Depends on the rifle, I guess.
Hit on a USMC would surely add a couple hundred.
On a regular service rifle, it might not add anything. If the hit puts it in use during wartime, surely that would add something.
It certainly helps on NM and Sporters and such, to prove they are not put together.
It would have to be necessary on a Bushmaster.
Have you seen that SC A3 for sale that is a SRS hit Navy rifle? I thought that was cool.
I agree with Mike ... if the hit is something like the rifle being sent to Springfield Armory for repair, it ain't going to add much. The "ultimate" in SRS hits would be to have a Krag carbine with use by the Rough Riders in 1898!

I would have figured a trapdoor carbine in use by the 7th Cav in '76 would have to be the "ultimate". :-) I found a 1903 for sale thats a hit for an US Navy ship.
Gents, 'What would the premium be for a 12th CAV rifle....regards
I would say a sliding scale - less for an auxilliary like that above (A stores ship) and much more for a warship, especially one with a "record". For example, I would give a LOT for an M1 or M1911 that was on the battleship Washington!!!
I also agree a 7th Cavalry TD carbine from the "Custer era" would probably be at the "top of the heap".

Well,Value is subjective and importance is relative, generally money is not the motivator for someone looking for an "SRS" hit.
1903 collecting ,may last a lifetime, but the rifle lasts longer usually. Some SRS paper is seemingly less Glamorous than others, but it is a view into
History that would have been lost, but now you uncovered it.I equate great value to all records found on 1903 rifles.
The 2 Restorations im working on will probably end up costing more than they will ever be worth, but bein that both rifles were at Fort Shafter at one point makes it worth while for me.
