Default Remington R1 looks sort-of military... some pics

I received my Remington R1S the other day. This is a stainless military-looking Series 80-style pistol. As received:

Flat serrated mainspring housing, short serrated trigger, and the rest of it looks mostly GI M1911A1.

I thought, hm, short trigger? How about we change a few parts and make it look like a M1911A1?

The more I handled it and the more I dry-fired it the more I realized... I hate the short trigger!

No matter, I bought a long trigger just in case!

Now it feels just like my Colt M1911! After a detailed stripping, cleaning, and lubing, the trigger pull is very clean and snappy. The long trigger and flat mainspring housing fit me well. The Remington mainspring housing is a little crude, so I might put a smooth, flat Ed Brown mainspring housing on. Need to decide whether I want a lanyard loop. The stocks are Hogue, finished with wax instead of hard plastic (ouch!).

I get to shoot it for the first time tomorrow. A darned impressive gun. See it here for pricing in your town:

More later after I shoot it tomorrow!

Shot this pistol today, about a hundred rounds. Emptied and reloaded quickly. Gun got hot and COVERED in carbon. No failures to eject, two failure to feed once it got filthy.

Shot fine, feeds Federal HST just dandy. Worthy to carry!

I bought the R1 Enhanced a couple months ago,...for my first 1911 it shot very accurate and was a joy to take to the range. That front sight on mine could slit your wrists if not careful.

Thanks for the report, and a nice looking weapon!!!
