From my recent visit to Rock Island Arsenal Museum.
From my recent visit to Rock Island Arsenal Museum.
Item #6071 is an interesting configuration which I have never seen before. The front can's function seems to be clear
but what is the function of the steel rectangle with the tube on the receiver? Gas diverter?
And #6073 looks like a 'snub nose' carbine. Reminds me of the H&R/Reissing .45 MG in WW II.
Thank you for the set of rare and informative pictures.
Best.
We all know this grenade launcher from the Viet Nam War photos, but did you know they made a three-shot repeater version with an optical sight?

The RIA museum is free and open almost every day of the year.
Hardly anyone is ever there, as you can see.

Been there a number of years ago. Great museum, need to get back again, Ray.
