So Charlies where and how did you find such a gem? It looks very nice indeed.

The serial number appears to be handstamped. Why?
    Are components also Winchester?
    Nice, clean carbine. Congratulations!

The stock has been sanded quite a bit but at least you can still see the acceptance stamps. The whole carbine appears to be correct for the time frame it was produced about May 1943. The stamped serial number was done by machine even though it looks like it was hand stamped. Not unusual for Winchesters.

Some original guns do not have much to say. I wish that one could talk and I think we would all listen.

To bad the stock was sanded so much. It just doesn't go with the rest of the been there done that bring back look of the rest of the carbine. It looks like a early type 2 reciever with the slide stop detent drilled all the way through the rail is it? I had a 1,079, WRA carbine with that receiver. My 1,216, is still a type 2 but not drilled through.
