Default M1917 or P14 Stock needed

Does anyone have, or know of a source of stocks for M1917 or P14 Enfields?

I recently picked up a Remington P14 Mk 1 in .303 British with an excellent bore, however, it needs a better stock.

The stocks were made in the US for the P14's in three different lengths. Rifles with Long Stocks were 47.05 inches long, Standard Stocks were 46.3 inches long, and Short Stocks were 45.55 inches long. The length of the stock progresses by 3/4" or 0.75" for each stock from short to long.

Some short and long stocks can be found on US M1917 Enfields because stocks for these guns were made from existing blanks that were originally intended for the P14's, however, the US did not intentionally make different length stocks. They just used up the ones that were in stock from the original P14 production. The stocks made by the US for the M1917 was the Standard length.

I would prefer to find one of the short stocks if possible. In fact, I have a M1917 Eddystone WWII rebuild with a JA barrel that has one of the short stocks. I was surprised when I discovered this, and then began investigating the stocks to find out why the different lengths existed, and why I found a short stock on a US M1917.

This information that I am referring to can be found on pages 37 & 38 of the P-17, The American Enfield by J.C. Harrison.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sir: I have a P14 drill rifle stock available. It's pretty rough, but usable. Let me know if you are interested.

The P14 barrel is smaller in diameter than the M1917 barrel, to install a M1917 barrel in a P14 stock the barrel channel must be opened up.

The magazine box is not the same either. The 1917 magazine box is longer to fit the 3006 cartridge...chris3

BOYDS GUN STOCKS makes a very nice full military stock. But it is only about 95% finished. Hard to describe but they just left allot of wood in some places, like on the butt.
