Default I have given up on my 1917

I am a shooter not a collector. I do have a number of Garands i shoot and two are all orig from the CMP they make good shooters too. I acquired a 1917 which seems to be barrel/receiver correct.
Most of the other parts are Eddystone but appears to have Winchester wood. I bought it as a shooter but can't see the front post. I tried to have a gunsmith retrofit a thick Mauser sight but it
won't stake in place past a few rounds. I got a GI front sight assy for it and replaced it. The front blade needs to be moved 1/3 to the left and for someone that can see the post it shoots almost MOA at 200 yards. I will sell it and look for a shooter A3. The gun looks good and shoots good for the right person but not me. All parts are blued , no parkerized parts at all. Smoeone warned me about trying to modify these fine rifles and I didn't listen.

replace the front sight assembly, and use a thicker front blade, they come all the way up to .90
if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.

I replaced mine with a Danish military front sight. Made a world of difference to me.
