    Default Ww1 m12 ?

I was at a gun show today. A guy there has a winchester M12 long barrel #575,xxx range. The funny thing was it was hand stamped in the same manner as the WW1 M97 hand stamped ones. Same spot and looked like the same stamp. Has anybody seen a M12 stamped that way? TIA

I know there is some controversy with the dates in the Blue Book, bit the book does date it to 1928, which is outside the WWI era.

I have never heard of the US military buying or using a model 12 Winchester in WWI....

some of the experts here might be able to document 1, but I've never read or even heard of a legitimate 1 being lettered from the Winchester records in Cody,Wyoming.

The government started to order the Trench model 12 in 1918. They were parkerized, having a 20 inch barrel and marked US.
