Since the 80's the union labor costs have caused companies to relocate over seas in order to compete and millions of US jobs were lost. Those that didnt leave, went bankrupt or got a government bailout. Unions are dead and they don't even know it yet.
Kaleu, welcome to CSP. I've been coming here since 1998. There are some interesting and very knowledgeable people who contribute here. And then there are others. . . . .
I was admonished when I first got a computer, never argue with fools on the internet. They will just drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience!

Sir, I thank you very much for your comment on the matter as well as others. I have no plan to argue or discuss the matter anymore other than saying sometime unions are necessary but should not be forced on any employee. I enjoy this site and admire the knowledge of so many here . I hope I will be forgiven if ask a question that seems to be common knowledge. I am making my first purchase on a 1903A1 from a person in fact a member here. I am trying to learn the history and all the details . The M1 , that I know and own several and shoot often. Its amazing how that " ping" gets everybodys attention at the range............ Glad to be here and thanks kaleu

Gimp, I don't think he's talking about double breasted shops and RTW legislation. I know that's what you're up against and a hot topic, and you know that as a retired UBC brother I am in 100% agreement with you there.
Methinks you may have jumped the gun though. I could be mistaken but the man hasn't mentioned anything about pay scale or bennies.

He didn't keep the job and he had the right to look elsewhere which he did.
What I didn't understand was his comment about tax dollars being used to collect union dues. Machinists/Auto mechanics, Construction Laborers, and finally Carpenters unions all had me paying my own dues on time or suffer a possible lapse in insurance coverage. No tax dollars involved at all and I don't think there can be under Taft-Hartley.
I would have asked him about that until you.....oh never mind. LOL
