    to add a little to JB,s post...some of these rifles had the chamber drilled and a pin drove through it...some sellers removed said pin, leavng a unsuspecting buyer to belive all was ok with it...look for small holes...
    also...
    if you shot a deer at 200 yards with a 30-40 and a 30-06...the deer wouldnt know the differance, just sayin...150 grn .30 is the same...pushed 1800 ftPS, or 2300
    end result is....dead deer.
    if it aint broke...fix it till it finally is.

    All good info and, JB, as usual you've brought all the stories together for a factual
    explanation. In the light of all the above comments, this old Sedgley becomes a bit of history
    and is even more entertaining. The essence of this history is that this M1903 receiver
    (Serial 469243, about 1911-1912) was like a cat with nine lives. It ended up serving duty in many environments, here and abroad-----spanning a century plus and many wars. So, in a way, thanks to JB
    and all the other bloggers, this old gun HAS spoken.
