Default Arisaka with attached hinged bayonet, Mum ground off.

    Hello, new to forum.

I have an Arisaka, not familiar with the models. It has a bayonet apparatus attached to the barrel, hinged with push-button release that allows it to swing into fixed position. I would be grateful for information about the model, year of production, ammo, anything to help ID it. Thanks,Chad

I think some clear close pictures and a good discription are going to be needed for most to be able to tell you much of anything about your rifle.
Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc'-Ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

It is a type/model 44 Carbine, adopted in 1911 and made untill 1939 when the type 99 was adopted. About 91,000 were made at three arsenals. There are several sites which will tell you what the markings mean. Even with the ground mum it should be a 4-500 dollar gun in to-days market if in decent condition. Cal 6.5 jap.

Only thing I can add to Dave's comment is to check the buttplate trapdoor. There is a plate on the side of the butt with a knob on it. turn that knob and it opens the trapdoor in the butt. See if there are cleaning rods in it. If there are, send me a private message with asking price...I need a set....LOL

I bought a type 44 couple years ago and was really surprised to find two sections (and one mt hole). Are these that scarce?

Yep. Not sure if most of them got lost or thrown away but they are not common.
