Default 1873 Trapdoor Barrel Repro or original needed

    Greetings:

I have a friend out in Co. that has a 1873 trapdoor rifle in .45-70 govt, and he states that the barrel is shot out. Are there any sources for a repro or original barrel? Tried looking in all the main hits on google for 1873 trapdoor springfield rifle parts, and they don't seem to have any listings.

Do a search on Trapdoors Galore. They have barrels & anyhing else you need for a US Springfield Trapdoor Rifle

I would NEVER recommend Trapdoors Galore - although they probably could supply this item.
I never believed there were SO many STUPID people in this country. Start working now to take the Senate in 2014.

Why do you say this Dick? Are they bad to deal with or is there parts over priced, or junk? I`ve never delt with them, I just found there sight one day while doing some TD searching.

Well, for many years now, the owner of TG has presented himself as an expert in the field. Naturally, when you buy an early "Custer" period carbine from a knowledgeable party you do not expect it to have a renumbered wide (1878, post - 96300) receiver. And, when called on it, rather than admitting his "mistake", he told the customer to pound sand. Bad idea - it went to court and he lost, on the basis of my "expert witness" testimony. I could add in some other personal anecdotes, in which he was less than honest with me. His ads are masterpieces of obfuscation - he knows what, and what not, to say, and just how much to put in the photo.

On the other hand - he has tons of parts, so, he could probably help you. But, there are so many decent guys (Al Frasca, Red Daugherty, Ed Knisely, Joe DeChristopher, S&S, etc.) in the field that I simply will not recommend a spoiled apple from the bottom of the barrel.

well said Dick, it would be the same as someone recommending Riverbank arsenal in Calif to someone looking for m1 carbine parts, that bum has fleeced more people on poorly made repro parts than anyone....... His ads too are a masterpiece of what NOT to say........I expect he has a lawyer proof read his ads now, he's been caught so many times.

I have ordered a repro firing pin for my Bannerman 1873 (early style pin with square cut relief) from Numrich, and it fit perfectly. I now must order an extractor spring and pin for my 1873 carbine restoration (parts are missing) and I'm going back to Numrich. I'm not sure if they have barrels, but they do have alot of other trapdoor parts.
