    Default new m1c

Just got my rack grade m1c (sorry can't do pics) my son went there last saturday and it was shipped monday got it today. There is one thing that bugs me, here goes , on the yellow hang tag m 3, t 4, rifle grade SA rack m1c, armorer EK , date 2-14-11. That's on the front, on back s/n :3495601 w/m, LMR 4/54 #on mount 3497434, (now the bad news) lock bar. It has a HRA POST WAR SIGHT,somebody changed the sight after the gun was tagged.
The wood is pretty good some dings on stock, hand guards very nice ,has the p proof and DAS.
I think i will email CMP and see what they say about the sight.

I noticed the tag, but having two to trying to make a decision, I thought I left that tag there, and didn't ask. Hope the finish is okay? Maybe CMP will make it right. Paul

With a post ww2 barrel you would expect post ww2 sights. I may have a ww2 barrel for that s/n range I would call CMP and tell them you want what was marked on the tag on the rifle they would want to make it right

i've bought around 50 maybe a little more firearms from CMP (only sold one to a friend for his son) and always went with the luck of the draw, some good ,some a little less than i would like but no complaints, but when tag is marked one thing and then parts are swapped should not happen in my opinion.

Did the gun have a lock bar sights on it when you selected it? if so and it was removed after you selected it then I would have a problem with that as well. If your complaint is that it may have had one before you picked it out and that before you picked it someone changed it then you got what you picked out nothing more nothing less. The yellow hang tags really don't serve any purpose other than to deliniate the grade and MW/TE numbers but even those are sometimes off.

I've kept track of M1Cs and usually put a cryptic note by each. My note on that receiver says, "CMP barreled receiver, holes not plugged.," If it would have had the bracket, I would have put the serial number of the bracket in the notes, so I'm pretty sure that it did not come with one.

I looked at about 30 M1C rifles today at the south store and they all had post war rear sights. As a matter of fact I did not see any rifles there with lock bar sights or WWII barrels.
