I admit I would REALLY like to start shooting my British Martini-Henry ... but reloading stuff and components (brass, bullets, etc.) are NOT cheap!

From some casters you can get a variety of diameters. I ordered a batch of .308, .309, .310, and .311 to try in a NM '03, but still haven't gotten around to that project.
I'm going to try slugging the barrel. I may try getting some .309 cast bullets and see where that takes me. My $285 complete 1898 Krag will probably be my main shooter.

Casting your own bullets for casual shooting is not worth the investment in casting equipment, IMHO. I used to cast all my pistol bullets back in the 70's when the equipment was priced right. I, also, shot competively for a few years @ several hundred rounds per match plus practice. Now-a-days, I buy cast bullets online by bulk. I should add, back then all my lead was free as well as the wheel weights.
I'm in agreement - I admire those who do their own casting but I don't shoot that much, nor do I need to have the complete control over what I shoot. I've found a couple of places that sell bulk bullets for a decent price. Reloading with "store bought" cast bullets still saves me about 2/3 of the price of commercial cartridges, and that's good enough for me.

Isn't it nice when all your hard work goes BOOM?
1st time #1 son and I reloaded. Went to the range. #1 son said "Dad, I think you should go first!"

What a considerate son -- letting his old man go first!! I'll bet you were proud!!![]()
