    Default M1911 Rebuild Value

I am thinking of selling my M1911 AA Rebuild. Condition is about 60-70%. All M1911 parts (don't understand why it was rebuilt). Colt frame with Rem-UMC slide. Shows on SRS and in the Colt Shipping Records. Thinking of getting a shooter instead of a collector. What are these going for nowadays?

    Thanks for any info.

Why sell it. Look for a colt sistemia , they are good shooters and can be had for a reasonable price.

I don't believe anyone can say for certain why an individual pistol was rebuilt, but your pistol offers some clues.

The slide most likely was replaced as the original slide had become "Unserviceable" for one reason or another. This could include a crack starting from the extractor hole, the firing pin hole wore out, cracks in other areas of the slide, or damage done in training or operational use. However, since replacing slides was 4th Echelon Maintenance, the pistol did not need to go to an Arsenal or Depot for rebuild for that reason alone.

Though this is pure speculation on my part, the most likely reason the pistol was rebuilt was the finish had worn too much or had rusted enough that they could not get it off the parkerizing without abrading the surface Parkerizing too much. Refinishing/reparkerizing was almost always done only by the Arsenals or Depots. The pistol MAY have been sent in for refnishing and when the parts were inspected, the slide was found to be unserviceable at that time and replaced before they rebuilt the pistol.

Bad photo, but pistol appears to be original blue. How about another photo made in open shade?

If you are thinking of getting a shooter take a good look at the Metro American Classic they are a well made gun that wont cause you to think about selling a fine gun like the one you have.
