Factory S&W K-38 ?

Photo shows a S&W K-38 four screw in the K409xxx serial number range in single action only and with the 8 3/8 inch barrel. Did the factory offer these features ?

Yes to both questions, they also made double action only versions.

Some single action only versions are after market modifications though. A check with Smith & Wesson would verify whether or not this particular revolver left the factory as a single action only variant.
