    Default AR 10 rifles

I'm thinking about buying a AR 10 style rifle. I know i want a flat top and a 20" barrel. Anybody have any thought on a manufacture.

Seems like everyone likes the LMT .308 im new to the AR-10 Family myself and have been searching for a 7.62/.308 AR like rifle too. I think im sold on the SIG716 tho, I just want to know if the lower will take DPMS pattern uppers, so I can go from 16" w/Elcan dedicated to 20" DPMS upper w/scope dedicated.... If it will im def going to get the SIG!!! Plus you can find them in the $1800's VS. LWRC Repr, LMT .308, Larue OBR, ect...

Bought an LMT back in March. Last check it sounds like it will be ready for delivery soon.

    Selling points for me

    1. Everyone notes the quality of the build. I have only eyed the 5.56 versions and they do pay attention to detail
    2. LMT is selling the rifle to two militaries - Britain, New Zealand - The company should be around for awhile
    3. Accuracy is reported to b outsatnding
    4. Switch barrel capability

Others I considered - Larue, GAP, KAC, JP, SCAR 17H

GAP is reported to make extremely accurate rifles. The only isue I had with them is that they are an assembler and build their rifles from POF parts. I was concerned about what would happen if POF failed. KAC the LMT is about equal to it without the price. JP was looking at the LRP07 decided it wa too much race gun not enough mainstream for parts interchange. Larue great gun but high price no obligations to any military leading me to think (probably in error) that they are more susceptible to a poor economy and regulation. The SCAR proprietary parts and more battle rifle than precision rifle, accuracy was my main concern. Conventional wisdom is DI is more accurate than piston, I didnt spend a lot of time considering the piston makers.

There was more but this was my short list of things to consider.

Are you perhaps thinking of DSA? I don't think DPMS makes a FAL type rifle. I have a DPMS .308 and while a bit problematic out of the box, it runs 100% now and is fairly accurate.

Could be, I'll have to get it out of the safe and take another look.

Which AR 10 rifles can use M14 magazines? Someone told me some manufactures make you use their magazines, nothing else fits.

Armalite modified M14 magazines to fit their AR10. Early Armalite magazines had a milled out square for the magazine latch. In later magazines the follower was changed for more reliable bolt holdback.

The AR-10B magazine is based on the magazine of the famed M-14 rifle. This magazine was
adopted during the period of the “Assault Weapons Ban”, during which new Waffle magazines
    couldn’t be legally produced.

i have the armalite ar 10, slick side , a2 sight, 16 in barrel , don't realy like it, bulky and heavy. made in the late 1990's. like my m14's much much better. but the ar 10 does shoot well.
