Default Old Garand safe to shoot?

This old rifle was found in a closet and was tucked away for a while. I think it is an M1 Garand. Not sure if it is safe to shoot since it is pretty old. What should I look for to make sure it is safe?

There Serial # was like 10k or 100k, or something like that. I will have to take a look at it again.

    Thanks.

It wasn't shot much. Basically, what was missing from this ammo box is all the ammo they shot through it. The ammo came with the rifle. I would assume the older ammo is corrosive also? That is one of my main concerns if this is the type of ammo shot in it.

Is the shelby cobra in the barn next to it ? just asking. The garand in your Photo if original, no repo parts might be worth more than 50K.

A close up of the barrel area. No corrosion on the barrel that I can see.
