Default Question, A dear friend died & several years ago in the 70's

He left 1) A Ruger Red Eagle.22 LR Auto pistol, 2) A S&W pre kit gun .22(early post WWII)LR revolver to his granddaughter.

She had small children @ the time (better'n 20 yrs ago) so left them with her mother(now in her 80's) here in Mo.Included with those was her Sako bolt action rifle she used in high power competition back in the '60's.

Can she just take them home to California, (they are hers legally inherited years ago). ? In Missouri, no permits are required to transfer handguns.

    TY in advance

She will have to ship them to a FFL dealer in CA. and then pick them up at the FFL dealer provided that it is legal in CA. for her to own them. She would also have to pay for shipping and registration.

    Default Why?

If she transports legally owned firearms, not currently on any banned list into the state why do they have to go thru an FFL? She should be able to ship them to herself if she wants as well.

    Default TY guys

I asked on the S&W forum too, it seems like she needs to take a handgun safety course & transfer them in thru the Ca. DOJ /handgun/firearms division.

Dern glad we live in Missouri, no permits needed for ownership & transfer as long as it is not full auto or an any other weapon under the fed statutes.
