Thread: 1858 Pietta question

    Default 1858 Pietta question

I did a Kirst ported conversion cylinder on my 1858 Pietta, and I would like to install the ejector that fits on the cylinder pin.On a 8 inch barrel the cylinder pin slides right out.I have the 5.5 inch barrel so the pin hits the loading lever retaining stud.Looks like I have to remove it to install the new pin with ejector.I tried unscrewing it with out luck.Is it a pressed in stud? Any trick to removing it?

Well I figured it out.tapped on it with a small lead hammer, and it poped off. They spot weld them in to a recess. After I install the ejector assembly I can practice my soldering skills.

My loading lever retainer on my 1858 barrel fell out. How is a new one installed to secure it? I have not bought a new one as yet, but there is a small cylindrical hole left in the bottom of my barrel that dosen't show evidence of ever being anymore than a clean hole.... Glue? Peen with a punch? I am a new member and have no clue how to start a New post on this site........

The front sight and loading-lever latch on these are spot-welded on. Years back I ordered a stainless 1858 Pietta from Cabela's....When it arrived I eagerly opened the box..and the front sight on my new gun was already knocked-off!....Cabela's shipped me a new one that had the parts stuck on good
