Gentlemen,
I have a question regarding the stock on my RIA rifle no. 338263, rebarreled SA 1/28 , w/ punch mark in the center of the ordnance bomb. As for the stock, it is a no finger grove stock, both stock, and upper hand guard are matching. My question is when did this pattern of stock first become an item of issue?
Also of interest to me as a military historian is the numerous horizontal marks just below the stacking swivel; indicating that this rifle had a one point been an issue weapon possibly pre WW2 or served out to recruits in boot camp. The stock also shows indications of have been boned. All in all a very nice weapon.
It looks to me, not being a collector, that the safety has been replaced by a later, possibly war time marked 'R/10. Bolt handle marking as follows: top, RF 12. Bottom, B / ( looks like a backward 9)
Any information on the stock would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
