1840 springfield

Here's an obscure one.
Anybody know where you might find a trigger guard for an 1840 Springfield musket. A friend of mine has one and it is not in bad shape except the trigger guard is missing (looks like for at least 100 years).
He says he wouldn't even mind a repro.

The Model 1840 Flint Musket used the same stock and furniture as the more common model 1842 percussion musket. Make sure it is indeed a Model 1840. Harpers Ferry never made the Model 1840 and continued production of the Model 1822, so you will find Harper's Ferry made Model 1822s with dates into the 1840s.

Trigger assemblies pop up from time to time on ebay and gunbroker. The Model 1842 is reproduced and imported by Taylor's & Company. They may have spare parts.

Sorry if I got the model year wrong. I'm a complete novice as far as military muskets go.
