    Default Republicans need to go after General Electric

    and their military contracts as soon as they get back in some measure of control of our nations purse strings. Plenty of competitors to fill their shoes....Pratt and Whitney, General Dynamics, the list goes on. Between their tireless shilling for President Moe Bummer on MSNBC and now this, I've had enough of these SOBs. GE benefits from the decision to bail on defending Poland and the Czech Republic, and the US media don't care to ask him about it? Exchange the words Obama and GE for Bush and Halliburton, and what do you think their reaction would be? I will not buy any product or service remotely associated with this company.

    Thumbs down General Electric...........

    Now builds all of their appliances in Mexico or China so they aren't really an American compamy anymore. When we bought our new appliances I opted for LG(Korea) and Fisher Paykal (New Zealand but they build their appliances here) and didn't let the wife buy anything GE. Every time I turn around GE is taking another plant to Mexico and I support enough of those wetbacks up here!

    Guys, we still build what counts here, jet engines. I work at the Evendale plant and am proud of the fact that our engines power alot of first-line equipment.
    For you Jarheads and Anchor-Clankers;
    F14 Super Tomcat; F110-129
    FA18 Hornet; F404
    Apache; T700

    You Zoomies;
    B1B; F110
    B2 Spirit; Classified as to exact number but, built on F110-129 core.
    F16; F110-129
    F15(Certain models)F110-129
    KC15 Extender; TF34
    C5A Galaxy; CF6-80

    You old Tomcat drivers remember the horror-stories about those Pratt engines. Constant flameouts and craft falling out of the sky. Enter the F110 and the Super Tomcat, as with all GE engines, instantanious relight throughout the flight envelope, 7,000 less parts, longer mean time between failures and more thrust. And what happens? Teddy Kennedy, at the time holder of controlling interest in United Technologies(Pratt and Whitney), starts screaming that if Pratt isn't given license as second source for the F110, they'll have to lay off 20,000! So, those sorry pukes get ten years worth of free research and developement!

    Granted, when he got on the armed services committee, he had to divest himself of the stock. What did he do? Gave it to his wife!!! No Conflict of Interest there!!!

    Yeah, GE hasn't given anything to this country but, this country gives GE the shaft every chance it gets.

    You want to fly with the Edsel of Jet Engines(Pratt)...be my guest!

    Yea, Generously Enormous builds engines made with the rotating parts machined in Mexico (turbine disk forgings) from the Wyman-Gordon forgings hammered out in Houston and then sells them to Iran through France. Neutron Jack Welch (just kill the people and leave the buildings standing) was largely responsible for NAFTA (globalization, don'tch know) and then got caught in a messy divorce showing just how far he screwed the GE stockholders (how about free rent for life for a NYC apartment?). Yea, they are a fine company - just don't work as a supplier for them.

    Every part on a GE jet engine has to be FAA Certified. If that part making changes location, the cert has to be performed all over again. You have any idea how much it costs to have a part re-certified? Figure having it installed on an engine, the engine installed in one of the test-cells, then run through 3,000 complete engine cycles And that's after all the metallurgy tests and Spec.checking. you're talking a couple million dollars. That's for commercial engines, for military it's worse, in addition to everything mentioned above, the part runs 5,000 TAC cycles which pretty much uses an multi-million fighter engine up, there's another big cost.

    So, you're talking about six or seven million dollars in recert money to save a couple thousand on parts??? I don't F####### think so!

    Nobody liked Welch. We used to call him the Warlock from Salem.

    Selling parts to Iran through France? What have you been drinking? I want some!!!!

    Dave:

    I worked for Wyman when the Evil One moved the work to Monterray. GE spent several millions of dollars building a green field machining center to turn CFM and F-series disks and shafts from our raw forgings. I accompanied the mult-axis machining cebnters to Mexico, and I did the first article obn the disks that were machined down there. This came about because PCC was trying to buy Wyman, and would not guarantee GEAE the percentage of cost reductions Neutron Jack and Jeff Imelt demanded.

    As far as Iran - the engines on the entire Airbus fleet in Iran are CFM's which are a joint venture between GE and SNECMA (but if you work at Evildale you probably know that already). Every engine that goes on one of those raghead's airliners comes from and through GE. And now we find out that the detonators the KUDS Forces are suppling for IEDs in Iraq come from a GE subsidiary via France, and then Pakistan. Also, GE has been providing Frame 7 Turbine parts for 20+ years for power generatiion in Iran, but you may think what you wish. Jeff Imelt (Jack's hand picked successor) has sold his, and his company's soul to the Anointed One in exchange for preferential treatment and bailout bucks. I hope the stockholders rise up in righteous indignation and throw him and all his cronies out on their collective fannies.
    By the way, how has your GE stock done since Jeff took over?

    Not as good as when Neutron Jack was Boss. It split four times at 114.00 during his reign. Of course we had the Airline industry problems starting in the late 90s and going and getting worse through the 2000s so far. Hard to sell engines when the industry is down but, we're still finding buyers. 8 Billion in orders after FairBairn. Stock is starting a slow climb. Was up to 17-something today. The whole economy is down.

    That preferential treatment is green power generation. I see a lot of nacelles for wind turbines from somewhere in Florida going to points unknown on the highway here. Paper on one of them said GE wind systems or something like that.

    GE has a commericial about the fact that 11,000 veterans work at GE, which is a good thing, but I wonder how many vets worked at GE before they moved their appliance and audio and video divisions out of this country. Now I do realise that we are talking about different divisions but I'm talking about jobs for Americans. I try not to buy foreign and, to me, foreign is where it's made, not who owns the company.

    Is the Remington Razor Company American or foreign? The headquarters and distribution centers are here in the US but every razor they sell is made in China. Is the Master Lock Company American? All the locks are made in Mexico and China but the headquarters and distribution centers are all here. Same for GE Lighting Division. Headquarters and distribution centers here but the bulbs are made in China, Poland, Hungary, Mexico and Taiwan.

    It has nothing to do with the submarines and jet engines as far as I'm concerned. The bottom line to me is whether or not my purchases help AMERICANS to keep their jobs. Clyde, for instance, thinks that our new Subaru is a "f**king Jap Rice Burner" but the majority of the parts are produced in the USA and the assembly plant is in Lafayette, Indiana. I don't care where the 3 or 4% net profit goes, I care about keeping AMERICANS working and my purchase did just that.
